Bradley T. Marker, M.D., FACS

Bradley T. Marker, M.D., FACS is a partner and general surgeon with Wiregrass Surgical who specializes in minimally invasive, bariatric and robotic surgery. A native of Gadsden, AL, he attended college at the University of Alabama where he received his undergraduate degree in biology and graduated summa cum laude in 2000. He graduated with his medical degree from UAB’s School of Medicine in 2004, and soon after, moved to Dallas, TX to continue his training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Parkland Hospital, serving as Chief Resident. He has been practicing with Wiregrass Surgical since 2009.

Dr. Marker has focused his practice on excellence in patient care by taking a compassionate and intentional approach to the people of the Wiregrass, addressing their needs with a servant’s heart. His overall goal is to provide the best level of care through minimally invasive techniques while striving to meet the needs of his patients by putting their best interests first. He has one of the most minimally invasive skill sets in the region. In fact, most of the complex cases he performs including bariatric, colorectal, hernia and anti-reflux procedures are done utilizing the da Vinci robot with minimal incisions and quick recovery times. He performed the first laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for weight loss in Dothan, and followed that by performing the first robotic sleeve gastrectomy in the area as well. He also performed the first right colectomy in the state of Alabama on the da Vinci robotic Xi Platform. Recently, in recognition of his commitment to advancing the field of minimally invasive surgery, he was selected to serve as a site mentor for Intuitive Surgical, allowing him to train other surgeons to perform robotic procedures. In addition, he was instrumental in bringing the first and only comprehensive genetic testing program to Dothan, giving advanced screening and treatment options to patients having cancer risks that were previously unavailable.

Dr. Marker is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the Houston County Medical Society. He is also a clinical instructor at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and a member of the Parkland Surgical Society. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Center of Excellence at Flowers Hospital.  He is affiliated with both Flowers Hospital and Dothan Surgery Center.

Dr. Marker married his wife, Dr. Allison Marker of Aventa Specialized Women’s Care, in 2004 after they met in medical school. They have two sons, Greyson and Thatcher, and enjoy spending their down time together with family. Dr. Marker also enjoys traveling, hunting, attending college football games and reading when time permits.
