General & Robotic Surgery
Kyle M. Bess, M.D., general surgeon, joined Wiregrass Surgical in August 2021. Dr. Bess grew up in Dothan, Alabama and is proud to have returned home to care for his family, friends and neighbors. Dr. Bess received an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University in 2011. Dr. Bess attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama where he received his medical degree in 2016. He completed his general surgery internship and residency in 2021 with the University of Kentucky where he was awarded the Recognition of Excellence in Medical Student Education. He was also selected by his peers to represent his class for the University of Kentucky General Surgery Program Evaluation Committee.
Awareness is Dr. Bess’ primary objective when it comes to patient care. He endeavors to work very closely with his patients to understand and achieve their goals. Through open and honest communication, Dr. Bess strives to make sure his patients feel heard and develops a plan based on their needs. He is committed to providing the best possible care to his patients through utilization of state of the art technologies, education, and compassion. His areas of interest include minimally invasive and robotic surgery, hernia repair, colorectal surgery, and breast surgery as well as many other general surgery procedures.
Dr. Bess is a Resident Member of the American College of Surgeons and is affiliated with Flowers Hospital and Dothan Surgery Center..
Dr. Bess and his wife, Mekelle, love spending time together with their three children – Harrison, Brooklyn and Peyton. Dr. Bess also enjoys playing golf, exercising, hunting and fishing.
